This documentation of the examination performance "learning journal" includes the following points: 1) Learning journal - What is it? - 2) Procedure - When and how is it handed in? - 3) Assessment - What are the criteria? - 4) Information fact sheet "Criteria for learning journals".
1 - Learning journal - What is it?

The facilitator introduce the concept of a learning journal and it’s requirements in the first session. The information sheet "Criteria for Learning Journals" is provided in a place each participant has access to. Information for participants
What is the learning journal?
The course content can be very complex as well as the problems the participants cope with. The personal learning journal is a place to note reflections and personal insights - for now and later. After each session, participants reflect on the sessions content and the respective tools. The learning journal is not a summary of the session, but a place where transfer skills are shown. Transfer can mean references to newspaper articles, documentaries, films, etc. or conversations with roommates, parents or friends or implementation in one’s own life. The length of each entry is at least 300 words. In the learning journal the participants cope with the complex information and situations of the seminar in a creative way, for example, by including inner dialogues, poems, pictures, collages, etc.. In addition, the tasks for preparation and follow-up should be entered here, if necessary.
What characterizes a good learning journal?
A good learning journal gives the reader information about the personal learning path of the participant. The weekly continuation allows reviewing the learning process in retrospect. The entries are individual and personal, attractively designed and clearly arranged.
2 - Procedure - When and how is the learning journal handed in?
Notes
The participants write one entry every week. The results are checked two times, in the middle and at the end of the semester. Only the final submission will be graded. The facilitators review the learning journals at the midterm submission and give general feedback to the participants. Submission and feedback within the semester provides certainty to participants that they are on track. It has nothing to do with the final grade. In which form should the learning journal be submitted?
The learning journal can be digital or analog. It is submitted as a PDF file. Analog work must be scanned in for this purpose. When will the learning journal be submitted?
The final submission of the learning journal will be at the end of the semester. There will be a midterm submission (as a PDF file in the submission forum) with feedback from the facilitators. The midterm submission will not be graded, but is intended to provide certainty that the learning journal is used correctly so far.
3 - Assessment - What are the assessment criteria?

The learning journal is an individual performance and counts 50 percent of the final grade. The other 50 percent come from the semester project as a group performance. A total of 100 points can be achieved in the entire course.
What are the grading criteria?
A total amount of 50 points can be achieved for the learning journal. The evaluation of the learning journal is based on five criteria. For each criterion up to 10 points can be achieved.
Completeness - 10 points
- one entry was made for each session
- two absences are allowed → write a small note that you were absent
- the preparation and follow-up tasks, which are explicitly asked to include in the learning journal, are included
- the other preparation and follow-up tasks are controlled via the learning platform
Transfer - 10 points
- an examination of discussed contents beyond the seminar is included
- e.g.: newspaper article read, conversation with tandem, friends or family sought
Appealing form of presentation - 10 points
- single entries use creative elements
- e.g.: drawings, photographs, collages, poems, theatrical dialogues or other artistic engagement
Tools - 10 points
- tools are regularly and comprehensively incorporated into entries
